Two Newbury Mums Join the Fight Against
Dementia and take on the Lake District Four Peaks Challenge
Newbury - 19 April 2011 - This July two local Newbury mums – Kate Nicholson and Sara Dixon – are undertaking the Lake District Four Peaks Challenge in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society and hosting an spectacular event this Friday at Eddie Catz to raise funds towards it.
The three day challenge, from 2 - 5 July 2011, involves getting to the top of four of England's highest peaks in the stunning Lake District National Park: Skiddaw Mountain (931m, 3,055ft), Scafell Pike (978m, 3,209ft), Scafell itself (964m, 3,163ft) and finally Helvellyn (950m, 3,117ft).
The fundraising event is being hosted at the Newbury Playcentre Eddie Catz this Friday the 22nd of April from 6-8pm to raise the minimum sponsorship and registration fees. There will be a giant playframe, sports pitch, Bouncy Castle, Disco, Face Painting, Easter Egg Hunt, Raffle and a yummy Cake Stall and a selection of other stalls. The mums are calling on the support of the local community to make it a success.
Tickets to this family event are £5 per Child and £1 per Adult and can be purchased from the Family Bookstore in Thatcham & at the Reception at Eddie Catz.
Newbury residents will have already heard all about it on Newbury Sound radio, which interviewed Kate and Sara this week. The event, which kicks off the Easter weekend, will be attended by The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Newbury.
