Eddie Catz and Team go Pancake Racing in Newbury

Eddie Catz and an ambitious team from the Eddie Catz Newbury play centre entered the Newbury Town Pancake Race on Tuesday, 8th March. The team was comprised of Centre Manager Lezah Voice, Assistant Manager Roger Vogel, Receptionist Cat Sedden and Cafe Assistant Pippa Williams - aka the Ninja, Batman, a local policeman and, of course, Eddie Catz himself.

The annual race is organised by the Newbury Soroptomists and teams run in a relay race, flipping pancakes as they go, in the Town's market place. This year's event raised money for Alzheimer's research, a charity closely associated to one member of staff, who had just lost his father to the disease recently.

The Team were entered into heat five and were successful in not coming last... there being some debate between Team Eddie and Newbury Sound on who was third!

Eddie also went on to take part in the 'Catch the golden pancake competition', where pancakes are throw from the Church tower and the lucky catcher wins a team prize and the unlucky ones get a pancake on the head.

Although Eddie didn't catch the golden pancake, he did manage to get his photo taken with the Mayor of Newbury, Councillor Dr Ian Grose.

All the team enjoyed taking part in the event, and are looking forward to trying to win next year's race.

Award wining playcentre Eddie Catz opened its doors last June on the site of the old abandoned Fantasy World, bringing not only new jobs to the local community but joy to children in and around Newbury who come to take part in pre-school classes such as Monkey Music and Baby Sensory, to play in the giant play structure and to have birthday parties. Evening Laser Tag parties for 6-12 year olds have proven to be a hit as well as the newly launched Mini Diva princess and makeover parties. Eddie Catz is very much a small family owned company, founded by two London parents who over the last seven years have slowly opened three playcentres. The other two are in SW London locations - Putney and Wimbledon.
